First Day at the New School!

So today was Delainey's first day of pre-school at her new school. She woke up this morning very excited about starting the day. She had picked out her clothes the night before and Mommy got everything else ready. When I woke her up this morning, she dressed herself and I thought she was ready for breakfast. However, she quickly informed me that she couldn't do anything yet until something was done with her hair. Well excuse me! After breakfast, we all went to school together and met her new teacher and the nerves finally hit for Delainey. She did great though and her teacher did a wonderful job of ushering her right into the group of kids already there. Before we left, she had to give baby sister one last hug.

Mommy and Daddy did very well and no tears were shed, we were just glad there was no major meltdown.

An Afternoon with Mimi!

Delainey spent Sunday afternoon with Mimi and look what they did!

The week before school...

Do you think someone is jealous of their younger siblings?

"Must you take pictures of everything I do?"

Have you met rapper Cool D O?

Jacqueline and Samuel get to enjoy bucket seats while the bigger kids jump around.

What a busy week this has been. We welcomed Erica, (not so baby anymore) Michael, and baby Samuel in for a visit. They spent some good quality time with the girls and even enjoyed a visit to Leapin Lizards.
Thursday Jacqueline had her 4 month checkup and she is still perfect. She has expanded her culinary taste to include baby peas, peaches, and bananas. They all look so appealing too. After the doctor visit, the girls headed to the Isle of Palms for a short beach trip with Sarah, Annah, and Liam. I was able to join them Friday evening after work and we had a pretty relaxing time. We never made it to the beach because the rain kept coming and going. Delainey and I were able to spend some time in the pool in between rain storms though. What did the other girls do while it was raining? Shop of course!

Monday is Delainey's first day at her new school. She is very excited and Mommy and Daddy are a little sad. Just another day closer to her growing up.

You want me to eat what?

So Jacqueline has been expanding her menu these days. She slowly progressed from breast milk and formula to that great tasting rice cereal. This week she had the privilege of trying those yummy carrots for babies. Some of her expressions were priceless!

What in the wide world of sports is going on around here?

So when I did my yard work on Sunday afternoon, I noticed there were a lot of feathers scattered around the backyard. Had Buddy, aka the Snake Killer aka the Turtle Wrangler, also added another aka of the The Bird Catcher to his resume? I thought surely not since he is not the most athletic dog. Perhaps, Tiger hid in the tall grass and got lucky with a lazy dove? There were too many feathers for it to have been a baby bird that fell out of the nest. Oh well, the bird is gone and all that is left are feathers for me to spread with the lawnmower before a certain young lady comes out to swing and questions the abundance of feathers laying around.

Well on Monday my question was answered. My wonderful wife decided to clean the windows around the house and discovered the image above on one of our large windows in the den. I have never seen anything like it and hopefully you can make it out in the picture. Some bird didn't notice the glass and made the perfect impression of himself when he must have flown full speed into the glass. I wonder if he died on impact or was knocked out and the boys of the backyard finished him off? Oh well, we have left his calling sign on the window for right now to warn our other feathery friends of what might happen to them if they make the same mistake!

Two quiet weekends in a row!

So another laid-back weekend and we aren't complaining. Friday night we were invited over to the Kanefts to watch the Opening Ceremonies and some of Beau's famous pork tenderloin. Neither event was a letdown. Delainey really enjoyed the fireworks and watching all of the dancers. Jacqueline really enjoyed all of the attention and being passed around the room.
Saturday was a lazy day with a trip to the gym, some housework, playing the in the sprinkler, and a night at Finley Park listening to some music and enjoying the company of Mimi. Sunday we worshiped at Transfiguration and then the girls went to the Shupings for a little fun in the pool while Daddy stayed home and did some yard work. After dinner and putting Jacqueline down for bed, Delainey settled into Mommy and Daddy's bed to watch some of the Olympics.

Of course on Monday Daddy had to go back to work, but the girls enjoyed a day at a local park, where Delainey got to try her hand at taking pictures.

This week should be a good one as the weather should remain cool. Hope everyone has a good one!

A quiet weekend...for once

We had a pretty calm weekend for once. Not much news to report from the ColumbiaFam. Here is a recent conversation in our house though:

Delainey: Mommy, I've been thinking you like baby sister better than me.

Mommy: Delainey, why in the world would you say something like that?

Delainey: I've just been thinking.

I can't wait for the conversations when she is a teenager!
